Her next step is to secure funding for the two year paralegal studies program & become self sufficient for herself & her family; Denise's attitude is infectious............when asked about her own circumstances..............."life throws curveballs....I'm just developing a pitching arm I didn't know I had!"
Denise is a woman with a mission! She came to volunteer at CARES a few months ago & our GED Program has never been the same.
As a single mom, she has seen what an education has done for her own kids (these "kids" by the way, are 13, 17 and 21!) and is making sure that others get the same opportunity. When you call CARES to enroll in the GED Program she is the person you'll be speaking to & the person who can make it happen for you!
Denise has plans of her own that she is working on....she has decided to follow a lifelong dream of becoming a paralegal in family law. Recently she has been "job-shadowing" a well known Scarborough family law lawyer in order to get a first hand look at what is involved in the real, day to day business of being a paralegal!

Every year at CARES, over one hundred people offer their time and talent to volunteer. We wanted to let these people (and the rest of the world!) know that their time, talent & commitment is appreciated by staff, clients & management alike. Here is one of those rare breed of people called a CARES volunteer!
